Seeing A Mission Trip Through Someone Else’s Eyes
It was nearly 12 years ago, in January of 2004 when I was only 19 that I took my first mission trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand where I stayed with and attempted to help at a place called the Tribal Children’s Hostel which is a ministry of North Burma Christian Mission. It was so different and exciting to me that I decided I needed to go back that same ministry the following summer and stay there a while.
Something that has really been on my mind a lot the last couple years has been how everything around me in Cambodia has become so normal to me. Even a couple years in, life in Cambodia is still so different from anything and things are still so exciting and unique. But now as I approach 9 years since first moving to Cambodia things are very normal to me. Lately I’ve been longing to find that same excitement of a mission trip and of being new to the mission field again.
Then this morning I spotted a video on the Facebook page of a girl who came to Cambodia with a team in the month of July. It is 17 minutes long, so it’s not just a quick watch, but it’s all their pictures and video clips of what they did while in Cambodia. And it made me cry. I was so happy to see it. Not just to see how we’re able to affect teams and volunteers and teams through our ministry, but I got to see a mission trip to Crossing Cambodia through someone else’s eyes and I got to be reminded of how much fun and how exciting and how different everything is when you go on a trip like that.
Sometimes it’s right when you need it that God gives you something like that.
